Ottawa, Canada—Wednesday, November 2, 2005 // BTI Photonic Systems, a leading global supplier of metro edge systems for the build-out of new broadband services, announced today that it has achieved ISO 9001:2000 certification from BSI, Inc of Reston, Virginia, for its implementation of a quality management system.
BTI’s ISO 9001 certification addresses all aspects of the
organization. To earn the certification, BSI performed on-site
assessments; examined BTI’s documented procedures and audited the
overall operations. BTI is ensuring compliance with the ISO 9001:2000
standards as the company continues to grow by working with BSI to
conduct routine surveillance audits of its business operations.
Recognized by more than 150 countries, the ISO 9001:2000 standard
places a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction, management
responsibility, continual improvement, and organizational performance
measurement.
"The ISO 9001:2000 certification positions BTI Photonic Systems
among the world’s leading companies dedicated to delivering high
quality products and services. It further validates our commitment to
provide carrier grade optical platforms that our customers can deploy
with confidence in mission critical networks, supported by the highest
level of service, "said Lance Laking, President and CEO BTI Photonic
Systems. “This certification allows us to continue growing our
relationships with our business partners including major OEMs,
value-added resellers and systems integrators while recognizing the
superior economics that BTI brings to the network edge.”
The ISO 9001:2000 standard is an internationally recognized
quality management system standard developed by the International
Organization for Standardization (ISO). To be certified to the
standard, companies must implement a quality management system (QMS)
embracing the activities of the company from staff training to taking
the instruction from the customer, the design and development of
products, the purchasing of materials and services and the delivery of
the products and services.
The certification process uses Plan-Do-Check-Act principles and
Process Management, demonstrating the steps taken to provide BTI
Photonic Systems’ customers with the promised services. Certification
to ISO 9001:2000 reinforces to customers through an independent
third-party, that BTI operates a QMS in accordance with the standard.
