BTI Photonic Systems Inc. Named One of Canada’s Fastest Growing Technology Companies in 2006 Deloitte Technology Fast 50 Program

Ottawa, Canada—Thursday, September 21, 2006 // BTI Photonic Systems Inc., has been named to Deloitte’s prestigious Technology Fast 50, the annual program which recognizes excellence, innovation and the fastest growing tech companies in Canada. Rankings are based on percentage of growth in fiscal year revenues over five years, from 2001-2005.

BTI’s CEO Lance Laking credits two key industry factors with the company’s rapid revenue growth from 2001-2005: the demand for and fast adoption of new media rich services; and, the increasing need by carriers for cutting-edge optical networking solutions to deliver those services. He said “This award recognizes our hard work and dedication to providing one of the most relevant and cost-effective real-world optical networking solutions on the market today. BTI is committed to helping carriers deliver seamless communications services to consumers and businesses alike.”

BTI’s increase in revenue from 2001 to 2005 results in a 11th place ranking overall in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50. The five year average increase in revenues among companies who made the Fast 50 was 4,954 percent.

“Sustaining high revenue growth over five years is an exceptional accomplishment. We commend BTI Photonic Systems for making the commitment to technology and delivering on the promise of market longevity,” said John Ruffolo, National Leader, Technology, Media & Telecommunications, Deloitte. “ We are proud to honor BTI Photonic Systems as a Deloitte Technology Fast 50 winner.”

Winners of the 10 regional Technology Fast 50 programs in the United States and Canada are automatically entered in the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 program, which ranks North America’s top 500 fastest growing technology companies.
